He has also appeared on stage in several productions, his most recent being ‘Travelling North’ with the Sydney Theatre Company. Bryan was inducted into the Logie Hall of Fame in 1989 and was named ‘Best Actor in a Supporting Role’ at the Australian Film Institute (AFI) awards for Breaker Morant and Two Hands. Bryan spent his childhood growing up in Panania and attended St Luke’s Primary School at Revesby. The Mayor of Bankstown, Clr Khal Asfour officially named the theatre at the Bankstown Library and Knowledge Centre after Bryan Brown in September 2013. At the official naming ceremony Bryan expressed that ‘Bankstown has played a great part in my life, particularly as a young man growing up in Panania, where I caught the bus to Bankstown pool to learn to swim and to the Bankstown Cinema to catch a film or two.’
