The Bankstown Arts Centre focuses on programs that: Facilitate community learning and experience of the arts through music, film, visual arts, theatre, dance, literature, and new media. Support for professional arts development Build capacity of semi-professional and hobbyist arts groups Support for emerging artists Develop community cultural development programs and projects Bankstown Arts Centre provides accommodation for professional and amateur arts organisations, as well as a range of flexible spaces to develop arts practice. A major focus for the Arts Centre is to provide support and reducing barriers to arts engagement for artists/ communities and audiences experiencing social exclusion such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, people with a disability, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) and low income communities. Bankstown Arts Centre was officially opened by the Honourable Kristina Keneally Premier of NSW, Jason Clare MP Member for Blaxland and Bankstown Mayor Clr Tania Mihailuk on Thursday 17 February 2011.
